A scandal erupted in Portugal when the newspaper "Correio da Manha" published photos of three journalists and commentators who criticized Cristiano Ronaldo.

The men were captured leaving a restaurant in Lisbon.

The publication featured Carlos Daniel, Pedro Marques Lopes, and João Maria Jonet, who had previously commented publicly on Ronaldo's disagreements with Portugal's national team coach Jorge Jesus.

The newspaper linked their meeting to the footballer’s conflict, although it provided no evidence that the player was discussed during lunch or that his criticism was planned.

The situation drew even more attention when it was revealed that Ronaldo owns 30% of the media group "Medialivre" that publishes the newspaper.

The footballer invested in the company in 2023, despite previously having conflicts with media outlets belonging to this group.

One of the most famous incidents occurred during the 2016 European Championship when Ronaldo took a CMTV journalist's microphone and threw it into a lake.
