In the English "Premier" League, the distribution of tickets to European battles happened somewhat unexpectedly.
The team that finished the season well, Sunderland, earned the right to play in the Europa League. They defeated Chelsea 2:1, and this victory allowed them to rise to the 7th position.
Chelsea's team was not saved even by Cole Palmer's goal. They could still qualify for the Europa League today, but still, they will have to start a new era under coach Xabi Alonso without participating in the European tournament.
Brighton, meanwhile, lost 0:3 to Manchester United and thus lost their place in the top seven of the "Premier" League. The "Seagulls" received a ticket to the Conference League.
Bournemouth drew 1:1 with Nottingham Forest and remained in 6th place, which guarantees a spot in the Europa League.
Aston Villa remained in 4th place after a 2:1 victory against Manchester City. If they had finished 5th, then that 6th position would have earned them a Champions League ticket.
