"Manchester United" on Sunday at home defeated "Nottingham Forest" 3:2, thus securing third place in this season of the English Premier League.
However, this match generated a lot of discussions regarding the second "United" goal, scored by Matheus Cunha, as prior to that, his teammate Bryan Mbeumo handled the ball in the penalty area.
Although the match referee was invited to review the situation at the VAR monitor, he stuck with his initial decision and counted the goal.
Indeed, the Professional Game Match Officials Limited (PGMO) and its head Howard Webb later acknowledged the referee's mistake.
According to the BBC, H. Webb reached out to the "Nottingham" club with an explanation that the field referee's decision has its arguments, but PGMO expects a rescinded goal and a handball call in such situations.
