In the postponed 32nd round match of the TOPLYGA, the teams of "Kauno Žalgiris" and FA "Šiauliai" faced off. The green and whites, who successfully converted their chances, celebrated a crushing victory with a score of 4:0 (2:0).
The match began very actively – already in the 5th minute, Šiauliai could have taken the lead through Dominykas Kubilinskas' assist by Davis Ikauniekas, who represented "Kauno Žalgiris" earlier this year, but the forward's header was saved by Tomas Švedkauskas. On the other side of the field, the Žalgiris players turned their opportunity into a goal. During a set-piece, Rokas Lekiatas scored accurately.
As the first half was coming to an end, the players coached by Mantas Kuklys suffered a second blow. After Nosa Edokpolor's assist, Žalgiris forward Haris Kadrič put the ball into the net with a header.
Once again after halftime, the guests from the Sun City had a decent chance to reduce the deficit, but Edgar Bierantas' header flew past the post.
In the 68th minute, the third goal fell into Gusto Baliutavičius' net – during a counterattack, Fabien Ourega, who had just come on as a substitute, scored accurately into the far corner of the goal.
Four minutes later, for a rough mistake near their penalty area, Šiauliai was punished by Gratas Sirgėdas.
Having claimed the victory, the Žalgiris players lead the championship with 34 points, while Šiauliai remains at the bottom of the league table with 13 points.
