UEFA has launched an investigation into the behavior of Istanbul's Fenerbahçe players Matteo Guendouzi and Mason Greenwood following the Champions League qualifying knockout match against Lyon.

The Turkish team fought for a 2-1 victory in France and, with an aggregate score of 3-2, advanced to the main stage of the tournament.

After the final whistle, a mass altercation broke out on the pitch involving players and staff from both teams.

In the midst of the incident was M. Guendouzi, who celebrated the victory by provoking the Lyon fans. The Frenchman later explained that he reacted this way due to insults directed at his family by the fans.

Fenerbahçe revealed that UEFA has initiated disciplinary proceedings not only against the players but also against the Turkish club itself.
