Former Lithuania men's national team coach Edgaras Jankauskas made a statement about the concluded phase in the national team.
On social media, the specialist thanked the players, fans, and the entire team staff and emphasized that the results did not always reflect the hard work the team had put in.
"FOOTBALL – it’s not just 90 minutes on the field, it’s people, relationships, and a common goal. At the end of the phase in the Lithuanian national football team, I want to sincerely thank those who were by my side, who celebrated and mourned together, fought for the team’s colors, and had our backs in the toughest moments.
Thank you to the players – I would personally and wholeheartedly like to thank each of you for your dedication. The results on the field do not always reflect the daily hard work. Personal sacrifices and physical and psychological pains remain invisible if the final result is negative, even though we were often just one goal away from what was needed.
Rest assured – your efforts are accumulating capital, they do not go to waste; everything will return with experience as currency. Football is a fascinating but at the same time cruel, competitive, and unforgiving industry. I want to believe that everyone who was part of this has become at least a little better as a player and as a person.
Humanity, respect for one’s profession, for the fans, and for each other – no matter the status or name – are our core values. The struggle, belief in oneself, and in each other on the field until the last second – the qualities that we instilled together – I believe will remain as the face of the team.
Do not forget – we are a team that was not easy to play against!
Thank you to the Vytis supporters – it’s hard to find the words to express respect and admiration for your unconditional support of your country and your national team. You are the ones who see deeper, who appreciate the team’s dedication, who come not just to celebrate victories but stand by us when the toughest storms arise. Your loyalty is the greatest and most important victory for Lithuanian football!
I say goodbye knowing that this journey has tempered us all. I wish this team never to give up, to keep growing, to believe in themselves, and to never give in! Wishing the greatest success in the future – on and off the field!” – wrote E. Jankauskas.
