Bruno Fernandes on Sunday made his 21st assist in the final match of the English Premier League season and set a record.
Prior to this, the Portuguese had already tied with Thierry Henry and Kevin De Bruyne, and on Sunday became the first football player in the Premier League to record 21 assists in a season.
However, just after the match against Brighton, information emerged that Bruno Fernandes' record faced a threat.
In the videos that appeared, it can be seen that a ball shot by Patrick Dorgu hit the crossbar and was heading out of the goal when it ricocheted off Brighton goalkeeper Bart Verbruggen’s hand and evidently changed direction to enter the goal.
The Premier League has the right to adjust the goal and assist authors after the match if there is clear evidence.
Thus, there remains a possibility that the first Man Utd goal will simply be credited as an own goal by Bart Verbruggen, in which case Bruno Fernandes would remain without his 21st assist of the season.
