The Public Investment Fund (PIF) of Saudi Arabia is preparing to abandon plans to build five new stadiums for the 2034 World Cup.

The fund is expected to focus solely on the construction of three new arenas.

In this case, Saudi Arabia would have a total of 10 stadiums for the World Cup.

These potential changes are related to reduced investments in some of the country's key infrastructure and development projects.

The four stadiums planned for the 2034 World Cup are also expected to be used in the Asian Football Championship taking place in January 2027. However, due to ongoing attacks by the Houthis against Saudi cities, there are increasing doubts about the organization of this tournament.
