B. Mendy: 'I do what I want with my World Championship title' © AFP

Former French national team defender Benjamin Mendy made an unusual decision regarding the trophy.

The Frenchman decided to sell the 2018 World Cup trophy at auction for 54,000 euros.

This decision brought him considerable criticism, but he had a response:

"Is this my title or yours?

By the way, it is mine and I can do whatever I want with it. If that causes drama, I'm always for it.

Also, this title took up too much space in my closet."

The 32-year-old Benjamin Mendy played for the French national team from 2017 to 2019 and made ten appearances.

The Frenchman has started his second season with Pogon Szczecin.

Additionally, Mendy played for Marseille, Monaco, and Manchester City during his career.
