Uruguay national team's and Miami Inter club legendary striker Luis Suárez commented on the possibilities of returning to the national team before the World Cup:
"I would never say 'no' to the national team if they needed me, especially with this tournament approaching.
At that time, I stepped aside to make room for the younger generation. I said things I shouldn't have said. I have already apologized to those I needed to."
"You understand that there is still a bit of life left in you.
You feel the desire to continue competing. It shows on the field when you are still angry about losses and bad passes, and you still enjoy it when you score."
39-year-old Luis Suárez has not played for the Uruguay national team since September 2024.
The Uruguayan has played for his country since 2007 and scored 69 goals in 143 matches.
