FIFA has given the green light to increase the number of participants in the FIFA Club World Cup tournament.
The Guardian reports that its president Gianni Infantino has agreed on this move with the leaders of the European Club Association.
In the next tournament, which will be held in 2029, instead of 32 teams, 48 clubs will likely compete.
This means that in the future, fans will see even more representatives from the Premier League and other Old Continent leagues in the tournament – it is planned to remove the limit of two teams per country.
In last year's tournament, London’s Chelsea earned as much as £84 million.
