After playing his first match in the World Championship, Virgil van Dijk, as a football fan, is watching the matches of other games himself.

After the match against Japan, the defender was asked about the water breaks, of which there are two during the match – in the middle of the first and second halves. The organizers described it as a way to prevent players from becoming dehydrated, but they are also used for advertisements.

V. van Dijk said about this: "I think water breaks are really an interesting topic. I’ve been lucky to have the chance to watch almost every match so far. Stopping every match for commercial breaks is something I dislike.

I also don’t think neutral fans like it either, watching on television. If it were really hot, then breaks would be a logical thing, but in my opinion, each match should be looked at separately.

Nevertheless, I think I’ve expressed enough on this topic,” joked V. van Dijk.
