The days are numbered for the iconic Champions League ball design.

The Guardian reports that Nike has won the right to create a new UEFA Champions League ball.

Nike triumphed over Adidas, who hold the rights to the current design, which features a star pattern.

It is likely that the new design, created by Nike, will be completely different and unrecognizable compared to the old one that football fans have grown accustomed to.

The next season will be the last time we see the ball with the original Adidas design.
