Forward Edin Džeko played his last match for the Bosnia and Herzegovina national team and ended a 19-year international career.
The 40-year-old team captain started the match against Sweden in Zenica and recorded his record 152nd appearance for the national team.
Bosnia and Herzegovina drew 1:1, but nearly all the attention was focused on the farewell of the country's top scorer in national team history.
In the second half, Džeko was substituted and was accompanied by huge applause. The entire stadium stood up to honor their captain one last time. Moreover, at the 11th minute, a building next to the "Bilino Polje" stadium suddenly lit up with pyrotechnics.
The celebration continued even after the final whistle. An impressive drone show was held above the stadium – a likeness of Džeko was displayed in the sky, along with a tribute to his 73 goals and 152 matches for the national team.
