Kauno Žalgiris overcomes the barrier of Kybartai's Sveikata in the LFF Cup

Lithuanian champion FK "Kauno Žalgiris" started successfully in the 2026 LFF Cup tournament and advanced to the round of 16. Eivinas Černiauskas' team won 3:0 (2:0) away against Kybartai "Sveikata" – the oldest football club in Lithuania.

At the very beginning of the match, Valdas Paulauskas dangerously struck the ball towards the opponents' goal with his head, but the ball hit the crossbar.

Already in the tenth minute of the match, defender Luka Račičius took the green and whites ahead with a goal, repeating his attempt with a second shot – 1:0.

A few minutes later, the advantage was doubled after a corner kick by Japanese Yukiyoshi Karashima, who scored with an accurate shot from outside the penalty area – 2:0.

In the first half, Kybartai's players created one dangerous situation, and Davis Ikauniekas sent the ball into the net twice, but the goals were disallowed due to offside.

The same D. Ikauniekas headed the ball just next to the goal in the middle of the second half, while Franco Baldassara's shot was cleared by the opponents' defenders almost off the line.

With ten minutes remaining until the end of the match, D. Ikauniekas finally scored his goal, heading the ball in after a cross from the wing – 3:0.
