"Manchester United” returned to the English Premier League battles on Monday night after a long break, albeit unsuccessfully.
"The Red Devils” lost at home 1:2 to "Leeds United,” for whom this was a very important victory in the fight for survival.
In the first half, the guests dominated the field, and although "Leeds” led 2:0 after the first 45 minutes, the score could have been even greater had it not been for Lisandro Martinez's miracle in defense in the closing moments of the half.
However, the same L. Martinez saw a red card early in the second half after a VAR review for pulling Dominic Calvert-Lewin by the hair.
After the match, this decision was heavily criticized by "Man Utd” manager Michael Carrick, who was convinced that the first "Leeds” goal should also have been disallowed for a foul against Leny Yoro.
"The red card for Martinez is simply a shocking decision. This is the second consecutive match where the refereeing decisions are against us, but this is the worst I’ve ever seen.
Moreover, the first "Leeds” goal was also scored after the opponent hit Yoro in the face with their hand,” Carrick expressed his anger.
"Man Utd” manager also stated that the club is considering filing a protest regarding L. Martinez's red card.
"I hope that Lisandro will be able to play against "Chelsea.” I have no doubt that the red card should be overturned,” added Carrick.
