Uruguay's national team head coach Marcelo Bielsa explained why he kept his head down and did not pose for the cameras during the World Cup photographs:

"There is a limit that we need to clarify. If I am not wearing glasses, then why am I not wearing them?

Why do you look someone in the eye? There is nothing wrong with not wearing glasses, looking someone in the eye, or down.”

"I don’t need to explain anything. The photo was taken as it was. I am not a model.

I don’t have an answer to that. Should I also explain why I don’t pay attention to those who speak at the press conference?”

70-year-old Marcelo Bielsa has been coaching the Uruguay national team since 2023.

The Uruguayans drew 1-1 with Saudi Arabia in their first World Cup match.
