‘Knights’ removed from the Lithuanian championship

On June 14, the LFF Disciplinary Committee convened for an extraordinary meeting to examine the case concerning possible violations of the LFF Club Licensing Rules, the regulations of the 2026 LFF Top League Championship matches, and the provisions of the LFF Disciplinary Code applicable to the FK "Riteriai" club.

It should be emphasized that, according to Article 39, paragraph 3 of the Disciplinary Code, participants must comply with the Disciplinary Code, LFF statutes, Competition regulations or other similar documents that establish the procedure for organizing competitions and participation in competitions, other LFF documents as well as the decisions of its bodies and administration, as well as FIFA and UEFA documents and their bodies’ decisions.

The club was given a deadline until June 15 to resolve the existing licensing issues; however, the club did not do so. The LFF also reminds that the FK "Riteriai B" team was expelled from the LFF II League A Division championships, so currently "Riteriai" does not have a reserve team participating in the LFF I League championships or the LFF II League championships, although according to point 13.1 of the TOP LEAGUE regulations, the reserve teams of clubs participating in the TOP LEAGUE must participate in the LFF I or LFF II League championships.

For these reasons, the LFF Disciplinary Committee decided to annul the A league license issued to the VšĮ Football Club "Riteriai," which grants the club team the right to participate in the 2026 LFF TOP LEAGUE championship. On June 14, the LFF Executive Committee convened for an extraordinary meeting to discuss the list of clubs eligible to participate in the TOP LEAGUE championship.

Upon receiving the LFF Disciplinary Committee's decision, today the LFF Executive Committee decided to expel the VšĮ Football Club "Riteriai" and its team from the list of clubs and their teams entitled to participate in the TOP LEAGUE championship. Since the team has not played half (50%) of the matches, its results in the championship are annulled.
