The victorious French team that marched in the World Championship will have to postpone their dream of winning the prestigious trophy for at least four years.
The players coached by Didier Deschamps, who made a resounding march in the tournament and overcame opponents six times in a row, hit a barrier against Spain in the semifinals – 0:2.
The first goal of the match was scored in the 22nd minute when Lamine Yamal earned a penalty that Mikel Oyarzabal converted accurately (0:1).
The French, known for their impressive attacking play, continued to fail to threaten their opponents' goal.
Meanwhile, in the 58th minute, Spain's attack was spearheaded by Pedro Porro, who doubled the score (0:2).
In the 61st minute, Lamine Yamal was on the scoresheet, but his goal was disallowed due to an offside call.
At the end of the match, France tried to at least reduce the deficit, but their opponents defended successfully.
In the World Championship final, Spain will face the winner of the England and Argentina pair.
