After overcoming the first stage of the Champions League, "Žalgiris" would face the most notable Ukrainian club - Kyiv's "Dynamo".

In the second stage, the Žalgiris team fell into a group of teams with a lower ranking and could meet more prominent opponents, including Belgrade's "Crvena zvezda" (Serbia), Tel Aviv's "Maccabi" (Israel), and the well-known "Malmö FF" (Sweden).

The draw determined a matchup against the "Dynamo" team, which reclaimed the title of the strongest team in Ukraine after a four-season break last season.

The Kyiv club holds a total of 17 Ukrainian champion titles and has won the cup 13 times, the UEFA Cup Winners' Cup twice, and the UEFA Super Cup once.

"Dynamo" has played in the Champions League group stage 18 times and reached the Champions League semifinals in 1999.

That same year, just in the next season, "Žalgiris" and "Dynamo" met in the second qualifying round of the Champions League, and then the Ukrainians won with an aggregate score of 3:0.

The matches of the second stage will take place on July 22/23 and 29/30.

The first match is expected to be held in Lithuania, the second - as an away game. "Dynamo" plans to play its international matches in the upcoming season in Lublin (Poland).
