Žalgiris defeats Panevėžys away

In the 7th round of the TOPLYGOS, "Panevėžys," which recently parted ways with coach Roland Vrabec, faced off against "Džiugas" from Telšiai, who had a successful start to the season. A goal scored from the penalty spot in the second half determined the victory for the Telšiai team with a minimal score of 1:0 (0:0).

The match started very calmly, and both teams made many mistakes in the middle of the field. The first dangerous episode occurred only halfway through the first half when a shot from Vilius Piliukaitis touched one of the home team’s defenders and flew past the post.

At the very end of the half, V. Piliukaitis, positioned again at the forefront of the attack, had a great opportunity to lead the team ahead, but the midfielder failed to score from a good position.

After the break, the "Panevėžys" players, Elivelto and Ernesto Veliulio, were more active in the game – their shots flew past the goal defended by Marius Paukštė.

In the 73rd minute, Ernestas Burdzilauskas handled the ball in his penalty area, and the match referee awarded a penalty, which Ibrahim Cisse successfully converted to put the guests in the lead.

Having secured another victory, Andrius Lipskis' team remains in second place with 14 points, while struggling "Panevėžys" is seventh with 8 points.
