Žalgiris confidently defeated Banga

In the 28th round of the "TOPsport" supported Lithuanian Football A League, Gargždų "Banga" faced off against Vilniaus "Žalgiris". The debut of the new head coach of the Vilnius team, Rolandas Džiaukštas, was successful as the Žalgiris players celebrated a victory with a score of 2:0 (1:0).

Already in the 8th minute, Gargždai's defender Deividas Malžinskas struck from a distance, but Žalgiris goalkeeper Carlos Olsesas remained alert and saved the shot. Soon after, Sherwinas Seedorfas also threatened dangerously but missed the target.

Until the end of the first half, both teams struggled to create dangerous attacks near the opponent's goal. However, during the added time, Žalgiris player Nemanja Mihailović found the net, as the Serbian accurately shot into the lower, far corner of the goal and put the guests in the lead.

As the second half commenced, the Žalgiris players organized an excellent attack, which was capped off by Joris Moutachy striking the goalpost. Later on, Motiejus Burba, who appeared on the pitch after a long absence, had a good opportunity, but his shot was saved by goalkeeper Mantas Bertašius.

In the 74th minute, a penalty was earned and successfully converted by "Žalgiris" attacking leader Liviu Antalis.

Having secured a confident victory, the Žalgiris players, now with 43 points, sit in 4th place, while "Banga" has 32 points, placing them 8th in the league table.
