Former Barcelona club coach Xavi received unpleasant news from the Indian Football Federation.

The media in this country reports that the specialist unsuccessfully tried to become the new head coach of the men's national team of the South Asian state.

He did not even make it to the final list of candidates, which includes unknowns Khalid Jamil, Stefan Tarkovic, and Stephen Constantine.

In total, Indian football officials received 170 applications for the coveted position.

The new national team strategist will be announced next week.
