Will African football fans have to miss the World Cup? © AFP

In the upcoming World Cup, football fans may not see many supporters from African national teams.

The Athletic notes that with the US implementing strict immigration rules, Africans may hit a financial barrier.

It has been reported that to obtain a visa, fans from countries such as Senegal, Algeria, Ivory Coast, and others will have to scrape together a deposit ranging from $5,000 to $15,000.

If fans violate the rules and do not leave the US on time, they will lose their money.

The same rules will apply to team members, and FIFA is making every effort to at least ease the situation for them.
