UEFA rejected the request of Premier League clubs © JumpStory

UEFA did not want to implement the request of the English clubs.

The Guardian reports that European football officials have rejected the idea from the Premier clubs to allow more players to be registered for the Champions League tournament starting next season.

The English wanted to include 28 athletes in the applications instead of the currently allowed 25 footballers.

The Spanish teams also opposed the Premier giants, fearing that the English teams with huge financial resources would acquire even more high-level players.

However, the current decision will only be in effect until the middle of next year and may be reviewed for the 2027-2028 season.
