The Disciplinary Committee of the Lithuanian Football Federation examined the case regarding a possible violation of the LFF Disciplinary Code during its meeting on June 4 and made decisions regarding the further participation of FK "Riteriai" B team in the LFF II division A division championships.
The LFF Disciplinary Committee received information that FK "Riteriai B" did not attend the LFF II division A division championship round 2 match against FK Sirijus, which was scheduled to take place on February 21, 2026.
Later, the LFF Disciplinary Committee also received information that FK "Riteriai B" did not attend the LFF II division A division championship round 11 match against FK "Šilutė," which was scheduled for May 30, 2026.
Explanations were provided by the club representative regarding why the team did not attend both matches. However, in the view of the Disciplinary Committee, the club did not provide justifiable reasons for the FK "Riteriai B" team’s absence from both matches mentioned in this announcement.
Taking into account all the circumstances, the LFF Disciplinary Committee decided:
– To impose a fine of 2000 Eur (two thousand euros) on the "Riteriai" club;
– To impose a sanction of expulsion from the competitions (LFF II division A division championships) on the club team "Riteriai B." All results achieved by the FK "Riteriai B" team (all match statistics), except for match disciplinary penalties, in the LFF II division A division championships are annulled.
An appeal against this decision of the LFF Disciplinary Committee can be submitted to the LFF Appeals Committee in accordance with the procedure established in the Disciplinary Code no later than 7 (seven) days from the date of delivery of this decision. The appeal must comply with the requirements set out in the Code.
The decision was commented on by LFF President Edgaras Stankevičius.
“In this case, considering the disciplinary violations committed by the team and the regulations of the competitions, the Disciplinary Committee decided to expel the "Riteriai" reserve team from further LFF II division matches.
It is humanly unfortunate for the young players of the team, who lost the opportunity to continue this championship and gain the necessary experience in men's football due to the negligence of official team representatives.
This decision may also affect the future of the main team. Currently, the "Riteriai" club cannot register new players, and the critical date is June 15 – if by that time the new club owner covers all debts, the Executive Committee will decide on the possibility of allowing the club to continue its participation in the TOPLIGOS championships,” stated the LFF leader.
