Šiauliai finished in fifth place

On a cloudy afternoon of the 36th round of the "TOPsport" sponsored Lithuanian Football A League in the City of the Sun, the local FA "Šiauliai" faced off against the Telšiai "Džiugas" players. Both teams' fans had to settle for a draw after a fluctuating match – 2:2 (1:2).

At the beginning of the match, both teams exchanged dangerous moments. Oleksandras Kurcevas attempted a shot with his right foot into the bottom corner of the goal, and later made a run with the ball, but failed to score. Meanwhile, Šiauliai's team could not take advantage of a mistake by the opponents when Eligijus Jankauskas's header was blocked by Marius Paukštė.

The match came to life when goals started to pour in mid-half. In the 29th minute, Telšiai took the lead first. Gaston Romano expertly executed a penalty kick into the right corner of the goal – 1:0. However, the guests could not celebrate for long. The result was instantly equalized by the season's goal machine Eligijus Jankauskas after a good pass from Marko Mandičius.

In the 37th minute, "Džiugas" surged ahead once again. After an accurate high pass into the penalty area, Oleksandras Kurcevas, who had already posed a threat to the opponents' goal, scored with a header – 2:1.

In the second half, it seemed that no more goals would be scored, but during added time, Martynas Dapkus managed to equalize the score after a scramble in the penalty area. Ultimately, the match ended in a draw – 2:2. Telšiai's "Džiugas" failed to rise to 6th place in the league table. They finished the season in 7th place with 48 points. Meanwhile, FA "Šiauliai" collected 52 points over the season and concluded their performance in the middle of the table – in 5th place.
