The Lithuanian national football team posed a serious challenge to the powerful Netherlands team on Sunday.
Although the Dutch led with a score of 2:0, the Lithuanians managed to equalize. However, the guests ultimately scored the winning goal and left Kaunas with three points.
After the match, the Netherlands team coach Ronald Koeman admitted that the Lithuanians surprised everyone with their performance.
"I think they surprised all of us. After conceding two goals, they showed good fighting spirit, came back into the game, controlled it, and created us problems with their physicality and quick running. After that, we lost a bit of control; our focus wasn’t as good as before, and after two good attacks following the first half, the score became equal.”
"Until the very end, they fought for a draw, but as I said on Saturday, it is never easy. It all depends on you; if you lead 2:0 and you give in, allowing them to create chances to come back into the game. But they deserved it for how they played and fought for the best result,” the Dutch team coach is quoted by "Lrt.lt.”
