Atlético Madrid head coach Diego Simeone was full of praise for Julián Álvarez, who scored the only goal:

"I have great respect for players who apologize. It is always difficult.

I am happy for Álvarez. He feels much calmer now.”

"We need this Argentine.

If the club wants to achieve its biggest dreams, we need Álvarez to be at his best.”

Julián Álvarez apologized to Atlético fans for his comments during the World Cup.

The forward scored his second goal of the season.

Álvarez was heavily linked with Barcelona in the summer.
