FIFA is making every effort to address an important issue at the upcoming World Cup.
Football officials have warned all teams that there will be a very strict response to cases of racism both on and off the pitch.
According to journalist Henry Winter, players will need to demonstratively cross their arms if they hear inappropriate behavior from opponents or fans, signaling to the referee.
Once an episode of racism is recorded, the referee will have to follow a three-step protocol provided to them.
The referee will be able to temporarily suspend the match, halt play for 15 minutes, or even announce the end of the meeting altogether.
