While working at the "Marseille" club, Roberto De Zerbi publicly defended Mason Greenwood, who has been accused with evidence of severe violence against his current wife and the mother of his children.
The Italian expressed this in grand terms, which, of course, was not well-received by almost the entire football community. Meanwhile, the new "Marseille" coach Habib Beye refrained from commenting on the matter.
The "Tottenham" club, having invited this coach to lead the team, asked about this situation.
R. De Zerbi said: "I have never wanted to diminish the issue of violence against women or simply violence against anyone. Throughout my life, I have always stood against violence towards people who are more vulnerable, weaker. I have fought against this and have been on the side of those who are at greater risk."
Anyone who knows me understands that I do not seek compromises to win more matches or to win additional titles.
If I have offended someone, I apologize. I have a daughter and I am very sensitive to these matters and I will always be. I hope that in time everyone will get to know me better and understand that I did not mean to say that.
