N. Kesminas: 'The pancake turned out perfectly'

Football commentator Nerijus Kesminas shared insights on social media about yesterday's victory of the Lithuanians against the Moldova team.

"Counted. The Lithuanian national football team unequivocally showed in Moldova that the chair of its coach Edgaras Jankauskas, along with the coach himself, might not fall this year.

Unlike any time before, E. Jankauskas has been given very specific tasks.

This time, they are not among those whose likelihood of fulfillment is roughly equivalent to the chance of finding a herd of bison somewhere in the Andromeda galaxy - to qualify for the World Cup final tournament, to fight for victory in the Nations League C group or some similar rabbit song.

No. This time they simply need to win the Nations League D division and secure the Baltic Cup.

In other words - to put Azerbaijan, Liechtenstein, Estonia, and Latvia in their place. Tasks that must be achievable. After all, if they can’t do that, they can’t do anything - life flows and the game takes place in Europe, not in the Caribbean or the southern islands of the Pacific Ocean.

The match in Chișinău was a great litmus test: an opponent very similar in strength to those our team will need to face in official and semi-official tournaments, an opportunity to check themselves in that context, which is now the most important to get used to.

The pancake baked perfectly. The Lithuanians won 2:0, unconditionally controlled the match from start to finish with only a couple of relaxation intervals and, most importantly, did what had been very difficult before - scored goals.

If you dip your foot in the river, it doesn’t necessarily mean you’ll swim across it. It’s not a fact that the team will show that level every night, which we saw yesterday.

But this time it’s worth ending the text with the same word it started with - counted,” wrote N. Kesminas.
