The Istanbul "Galatasaray" team has begun its campaign in the UEFA Champions League Round of 16 with a victory.

The Turks defeated the "Liverpool" team 1:0 at home.

The only goal of the match was scored in the 7th minute by M. Lemina.

The English could have at least brought home a draw, but a goal from V. Van Dijk in the 70th minute was disallowed.

The return match will be played in Liverpool on March 18.
