Former "Barcelona" coach Xavi accused club president Joan Laporta of blocking Lionel Messi's return to Catalonia in 2023.
Xavi revealed that after winning the World Cup, Messi had reached an agreement with "Barca," but ultimately the transfer was vetoed by Laporta.
Laporta himself reacted to the former coach's accusations and did not miss the chance to jab at Xavi.
"Xavi's interview surprised and hurt me. I understand that it is also painful for him, as Hansi Flick wins matches and titles with the same squad, while Xavi was unable to do so.
When Xavi coached the team, I saw that we would lose, but with Flick, the feeling is completely opposite.
I can take pride in the fact that we did not agree to sell Lamine Yamal to PSG. Let’s not forget that we have a contract with him until 2030," explained Laporta.
