Leicester City - in a regrettable position: a negative record and the threat of falling even lower © PA

In 2016, the champions of the England "Premier" League, "Leicester City", found themselves in an unenviable situation after 10 years.

Not only have the "Foxes" been relegated to the "Championship" league for the second time in the last decade, but this year even the risk of falling into a lower level – "League One", which is the third-tier English football division, has emerged.

After 36 rounds, "Leicester City" occupies 22nd place in the "Championship" with 35 points. This would mean relegation to a lower division.

Only one point separates them from 21st place, also occupied by the well-known club "West Brom" (36 points), but in 23rd place is "Oxford United", which has the same number of points (35 points) and has recently gained good form. Other clubs that are certainly vulnerable are "Blackburn Rovers" (39 points) and "Portsmouth" (40 points), which occupies 19th position.

Things are not looking good for the "Leicester City" team's form.

The "Foxes" became the first team in 18 years of the "Championship" that failed to keep a "clean sheet" in 30 matches. The last time this happened was in 2007, when "Colchester United" achieved such an unenviable feat.

On Saturday, "Leicester City" came close to victory against one of the league leaders, "Ipswich Town", but Sindre Walle Egeli's goal resulted in a draw – 1:1.

The last victory in the "Championship" was achieved only on January 5.

This May will mark an anniversary when "Leicester City" became the champions of England. We can only hope that this anniversary will not be spoiled by a ticket to the third tier of English football.
