Miami "Inter" and Argentina national team leader Lionel Messi closely follows the performances of his teammates in other leagues.

According to ESPN, the veteran is particularly impressed by the performances of Birmingham "Aston Villa" goalkeeper Emiliano Martinez.

"In the last World Cup, we were accompanied by luck. Although we were better than the Netherlands and France national teams, we had to participate in penalty shootouts.

Of course, we had a real beast there – E. Martinez," Messi recalled his friend's heroics in Qatar.

At the same time, the forward praised former "Barca" coach Pep Guardiola, who now manages "Man City".

"He is unique. There are certainly many incredible coaches, but Pep stands out in some way. When it's time to prepare for matches and communicate with the players, he does his job perfectly."
