Arriving in Liverpool with fanfare this summer, Florian Wirtz is currently one of the biggest disappointments among this season's English champions.
The German has yet to score a goal or provide an assist in the Liverpool squad – both assists were made in the UEFA Champions League match against Eintracht.
However, Xabi Alonso, the former coach of Wirtz, has no doubt about his former pupil's success, as he prepares to face Liverpool with Real Madrid at Anfield this evening.
"I have no doubts about Wirtz; it is just a matter of time. His move to Liverpool is a huge opportunity after a long career phase in Germany.
Wirtz needs a little time to adapt, but he is a special player. He is one of the reasons I got the chance to take the helm at Real. I hope that not in this match, but in the near future, he will show his capabilities," X. Alonso said at the press conference.
