During a press conference on Friday, "Žalgiris" director Mindaugas Kasperūnas disclosed the extremely poor financial situation of the capital club.
It was reported that the A league team has about one million euros in debts, and the team's shareholders are unwilling to contribute to solving the problems. The debts need to be settled by the end of this year.
According to Vilnius Mayor Valdas Benkunskas, the only solution is likely to find new investors.
This could expand the number of club shareholders or the shareholders should transfer their shares.
According to public figure Andrius Tapinas, there was recently an opportunity to attract two wealthy companies, but after seeing the poor situation and the actions of the former manager Vilma Venslovaitienė, they temporarily withdrew.
As M. Kasperūnas stated, all hopes are now pinned on the shareholders' meeting scheduled for November 17. Again, there are concerns about the actions of the existing shareholders, one of whom is Mindaugas Nikoličius, who has not expressed his clear opinion.
Meanwhile, former manager V. Venslovaitienė does not communicate with anyone at all and only agrees to speak through lawyers.
