73 matches - 7 wins. In a petition, a fan urges LFF leaders to step down. © Lietuvos futbolas

On the portal "EuroFootball.lt" – a petition created by a Lithuanian football fan. The internet user seveduby calls on fans not to turn a blind eye to the tragic situation of football in the country and to demand a change of the highest management.

"Hello, I discussed in internet comments, but to reach more people, I decided to create a petition. On the "Facebook" network, my attention was caught by journalist Rolandas V. Eidvilas's post, which reveals the entire bleak situation of Lithuanian football.

"Since the autumn of 2016, we have played 47 matches in qualifying tournaments and won three victories... In the Nations League – 4 victories in 26 matches and we fell to League D (before that, we always played in League C). For several years now, we have been fighting for nothing, unless for not falling into League D of the Nations League," he wrote.

So, in 73 matches – 7 victories... In the world ranking – 145th place. And everyone is happy, spectators are setting attendance records at the Kaunas stadium, the coach explains that success has turned away again, even internet commentators insist that everything is fine, after all, we at least try to play football and do not blindly bounce back. In short, the "losers" mentality has started to thrive.

Conversely, I do not think that everything is fine and something needs to be done. First of all, the problem is not the men's national team's coach. The LFF leaders need to be changed, as their strategy (if there is one) to elevate football to the top clearly does not work. The current LFF president Edgaras Stankevičius has been working in the federation since 2018, where he initially held important positions as general secretary. 7 years is a sufficient time to achieve something, but unfortunately, the current results do not show that.

It took the Vilnius "Žalgiris" team a few bad months to change the club's management, while the agony (including youth football) has been ongoing here for almost a decade. There are indeed talented children in Lithuania (according to sports clubs' attendance, football is reportedly in first place), but they "miraculously" disappear from the rotten football system's sight. Therefore, I invite you to sign the petition and demand the resignation of the LFF leadership," the fan wrote.
