S. Jim Ractliffe: 'R. Amorim has three years to demonstrate results' © zumapress

Sir Jim Ratcliffe, the head of the Manchester United club, commented to The Guardian on how much time he will give to Ruben Amorim and compared his situation to that of other coaches:

"Yes. He has been given three years, as things don’t happen overnight.”

"I remember when there were reports in the press about sacking Sir Alex Ferguson after his first two years. Look at London’s Arsenal with Mikel Arteta – they also had a lot of troubles in the first couple of seasons.

We need to be patient and see what the results will be in the long term.”

"R. Amorim has not demonstrated such good results. He has to prove that he is a good coach over three years. That is the time.”

Sometimes I don’t understand the English press, as they think everything has to change in an instant or overnight.”

40-year-old Ruben Amorim has been at Manchester United since November 11 of last year.

This team is in tenth place in the English championship with 10 points.
