The "Aston Villa" team has become the main contender to triumph in this season's Europa League tournament.

The "Opta" supercomputer, having performed numerous calculations, announced that the representative of the Premier League has a 21.6% chance of winning the desired trophy.

The last pound trophy that the Birmingham club won was in 1996 when they triumphed in the League Cup tournament. In continental tournaments, "Aston Villa" has been drought-stricken for even longer – since 1982, when they won the European Cup (now known as the Champions League trophy – ed. note).

In second place in the "Opta" ranking is "Roma" (12.8%), and in third is "Nottingham Forest" (11.3%).

Also in the top five are "Lille" (10.1%) and "Lyon" (8.3%).
