"Kaunas Žalgiris” football players began their battles in the UEFA Conference League qualifiers and did so triumphantly. In Jonava, Eivinas Černiauskas' team defeated Bridgend "Penybont" from Wales with a score of 3:0 (2:0).
From the very start of the match, the Kaunas players controlled the situation, dictated the game's rhythm, and created opportunities.
In the 4th minute of the match, Amine Benchaiba sent the ball into the net, but the goal was disallowed due to offside.
The opponents forced Tomáš Švedkauskas to work once, but it was the home team that scored the first goal.
In the 18th minute, the Kaunas team launched an attack down the left flank, A. Benchaiba deceived the opponents, and after his shot, the opposing defender directed the ball into his own net – 1:0.
Just six minutes later, Gintas Sirgėdas scored a stunning goal from a free kick from the flank – 2:0. Right at the end of the first half, Fabien Ourega had another chance.
That same F. Ourega, shortly after the start of the second half, made an impressive play on the flank, found Damjan Pavlović, and he sent the ball into the net – 3:0.
Until the end of the match, the Žalgiris players had a few more chances to score, defended against their opponents' attacks, and celebrated a confident victory.
The return match will take place exactly one week later in Cardiff, the capital of Wales – those wishing to support the Žalgiris players there can contact the club for the opportunity to purchase tickets in the away fans' sector. We invite you to reach out via email [email protected].
