The news of the tragic death of Portuguese footballer Diogo Jota and his brother in a car accident has shocked the global football community today.

On behalf of the Lithuanian football community, we express our condolences to the Portuguese Football Federation, the community, fans, and relatives.

During his career, D. Jota played nearly 50 matches for the Portuguese national team, and it is symbolic that he took his first step in the men's team by debuting in a match against the Lithuanian national team on November 14, 2019, in the city of Faro.

It is sad that the footballer's journey ended too soon," wrote the LFF.
