The event on Thursday night shook the sports world – Portugal and Liverpool forward Diogo Jota died in a car accident.

According to Spanish media, the 28-year-old player had just finished his vacation in his homeland and was traveling to the city of Santander with his brother.

There, the football star was scheduled to board a ferry that would take the Portuguese to England.

Next Monday, the Liverpool team will gather for their training camp in preparation for the new season.

D. Jota could not fly to England by plane due to a previous lung surgery – doctors insisted on choosing another mode of travel.
