POP: "Who Will Win a Million?" A High-Value Football Question Tripped Up the Contestant. © SIPA

In Germany, in the popular game "Who Wants to Be a Millionaire?", one participant narrowly missed winning 125 thousand euros.

A question about football tripped the man up.

Marcas Offenbacher managed to answer 12 out of 15 questions until he heard the host state:

"What score was most frequently recorded in World Cup finals?"

And the possible answer options were announced: "1:0, 2:1, 3:1, and 4:2."

M. Offenbacher even felt a headache coming on, as he admitted to being completely uninterested in sports. Ultimately, after using help, only two possible options remained: 2:1 and 4:2.

The man stated: "I've heard that statistically, football matches most often end with a score of 2:1, so I choose this option."

However, at that moment, instead of fanfares, the music indicating an incorrect answer played - he was wrong.

The disappointed player had to settle for a sum of 500 euros, although had he not made a guess, he could have walked away with 65,000 euros.
