The Portuguese Diogo Jota, who tragically died in a car accident, managed to speak on the phone with a close friend shortly before the incident.
The Portuguese publication JN reports that the "Liverpool" star spoke with the president of his hometown club "Gondomar," Alvaro Cerqueira, a couple of hours before the accident.
It was in this team that D. Jota played during his teenage years until he accepted an offer from the "Pacos de Ferreira" club in 2013.
"We spoke at ten o'clock in the evening, Diogo was feeling great at that time.
We kept in touch almost every week, and I knew how happy the player had been lately.
Whenever D. Jota wanted to train during the off-season, we always fulfilled his wishes. His brother would come along too," said A. Cerqueira.
