Packed stands helped – 'Žalgiris' celebrated yet another victory

In the 4th round of the TOP LEAGUE, teams showcasing the best offense and defense faced each other. In front of a full house, Vilnius "Žalgiris" defeated Marijampolė "Sūduva" with a minimal score of 1:0 (1:0).

A forced substitution occurred for the guests in the 15th minute when team captain Aleksandras Živanovičius could not continue the match due to an injury. Moreover, just a few minutes later, the players from Marijampolė conceded a goal when Ignas Plūkas managed to save Deividas Šešplaukis' shot, but Giedrius Matulevičius, left unchecked, directed the ball into the net with his head.

At the beginning of the second half, D. Šešplaukis made a dangerous pass into the penalty area, winning a duel in the second height Grigore Turda directed the ball to the goal frame. After a few episodes, D. Šešplaukis found Sama Mamacasvili, who rolled the ball towards Liviu Antal, but the latter did not reach the ball.

In the 74th minute, a long-range powerful shot was taken by Jury Kendyšas, this time I. Plūkas deflected the ball behind the back goal line. Very soon, the emotions reached their peak – Marijampolė’s head coach Donatas Vencevičius saw a red card against himself.

As the match was coming to an end, Ibrahima Seck took the first shot on target, but it did not bring any fruit, Moutiro Chajia's attempt was blocked.

"Žalgiris" gains momentum by winning their third consecutive victory, while "Sūduva" suffered their first defeat in the championship.
