Vilnius "Žalgiris" begins a new chapter. The largest shareholder of the club has become private investor and entrepreneur Tadas Burgaila, who on Wednesday acquired indirectly five shares of VŠĮ "Futbolo klubas Žalgiris" from former club director Vilma Venslovaitienė and former sports director Mindaugas Nikoličius through his controlled legal entity.

The amount of the transaction is not disclosed.

"It is a privilege to become part of this community. I believe that "Žalgiris" can be a modern, open, professional, and inspiring club. I dream of seeing a full national stadium and a team that people live for, rejoice in, and take pride in," said Tadas Burgaila. "For that, we will need a new management culture, a smart organization, and international connections that will open up broader opportunities for the club - from attracting talent to joint projects with foreign clubs and partners. Nevertheless, the most important thing is to grow interest and the number of spectators. Without people in the stands, football loses part of its essence."

According to him, the future of "Žalgiris" must be created together: "It is important to bring together bright, football-loving people from business, sports, and culture around the club and to involve "Žalgiris" fans more. Then we will create a strategy, goals, and a long-term operational model together. The future of "Žalgiris" must be a common idea that unites the townspeople."

The new shareholder also thanked the previous leaders for their efforts: "I sincerely thank Vilma Venslovaitienė and Mindaugas Nikoličius. During their tenure, the club achieved significant accomplishments and gained important experience. This is a solid foundation from which to move forward."

"Žalgiris" is turning a new page. I see the club as one of the historical symbols and values of Vilnius - I believe that with the involvement of a new investor, important changes are ahead. We must address long-standing problems and meet the expectations of fans," said Vilnius Mayor Valdas Benkunskas.

After the transaction, T. Burgaila indirectly owns five shares of the club through his controlled legal entity.

Two shares continue to be managed by the Vilnius City Municipality and UAB "Valoras", one each by Mindaugas Kasperūnas, Vytautas Čepas, the companies "Olego transportas" and "cargoGO Logistics". One more share is currently under arrest.

On November 17 (Monday) at 4 PM, there will be a general meeting of shareholders of VŠĮ "Futbolo klubas Žalgiris", where changes to the club's statutes and the creation of a new representative structure will be discussed.

After the meeting, around 5:30 PM, media representatives will be invited to a conference, which Tadas Burgaila will also attend.
