The conflict that arose between Vilma Venslovaitienė, the director of Vilnius "Žalgiris" football club, and the club's supporters has reached a breaking point - on Thursday evening, she announced her resignation. V. Venslovaitienė informed about her decision to step down through her lawyer.

"I inform you that in order to avoid further escalation between FK "Žalgiris" and myself, I have decided to resign from my positions as the director of the "Žalgiris" football club and academy, as well as a board member,” it is stated in her issued statement.

According to V. Venslovaitienė, the club's shareholders were informed about her departure and were asked to appoint a responsible person for the smooth transfer of operations.

The departing director emphasized that over the past 16 years, she has been completely devoted to "Žalgiris," and together with the club, numerous significant achievements have been reached: during this time, the team has won the A League 8 times, claimed the LFF Cup 9 times, and 8 Super Cups. She also expressed joy over the acquisition of the academy and the strengthening of the club.

Venslovaitienė thanked the Vilnius city authorities and all the club's sponsors, singling out former mayor Vilius Navickas, who supported the club's revival in 2009. She also thanked the shareholders who believed in the club in 2010, even when it had neither the right to a name nor an A League license.

"I want to wish the team strength and faith - You have always been the best to me,” it is stated in the message. Venslovaitienė also thanked the administrative staff for their years of cooperation.

We remind that this week, Venslovaitienė was charged with possible document forgery. This caused great dissatisfaction among "Žalgiris" supporters, who began demanding her and head coach Vladimir Čeburin's resignation.

Another conflict was sparked by the publicly stated accusation from former club shareholder Eleonora Kasperūnienė. According to her, Venslovaitienė fraudulently acquired the right to the club share that she held. E. Kasperūnienė claims she signed a share transfer agreement in 2010, but the transaction remained unfinished, and this year, Venslovaitienė's signature appeared on the document - allegedly done without her knowledge.
