In winter, Romualdas Jansonas, who joined the "Kauno Žalgiris" football club and played half of the season, will greet autumn representing a foreign club.
The 20-year-old forward was decided to be signed by the "Arouca" club, competing in Portugal's top league, on the last days of the summer transfer window.
The Portuguese club will pay "Kauno Žalgiris" a buyout fee of 150 thousand euros for the Lithuanian national team member, and thanks to the bonuses stipulated in the deal, the amount could rise to 200 thousand euros. "Kauno Žalgiris" will also receive 10% of the future transfer fee of the player.
"We had no doubts about Romuald's talent; we were happy to invest in him and paid the training compensation to Vilnius "Žalgiris". We had already shown earlier that we are a great environment for young Lithuanians to get a chance, to develop, and to spread their wings to a higher level. Of course, at the same time, we do not forget our goals, so this transfer was only possible after the UEFA competitions were concluded. All previous inquiries before that had been rejected," said club president Mantas Kalnietis.
In the Lithuanian championship, wearing the green and white jersey, R. Jansonas scored 6 goals and provided 4 assists in 23 matches.
The young player also scored another goal in the UEFA Europa Conference League match at the Darius and Girėnas Stadium, when he headed the ball into the "Valur" net.
After the clubs agreed on the transfer conditions, R. Jansonas traveled to Portugal and successfully passed the medical examination, after which the deal came into effect.
